Dec. 3 marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities — and to learn more about the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society, the Inclusion Café and Nunavut’s Department of Family Services, you’re invited for free coffee, tea and baked goods from noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 3, in the lobby of the Igluvut Building (#922.)
To mark Dec. 3, people living with a mobility-related disability, and non-profit organizations who support people living with a mobility-related disability, are also invited to apply for a Nunavut Solutions Grant, a Government of Nunavut release said.
These grants can cover the cost of programs, equipment and services that improve the quality of life for people with mobility-related disabilities in Nunavut, the GN said.
In the past, the grants have funded wheelchairs and lifts, home renovations to increase accessibility, training or education opportunities, support services, including respite care, and community programs for individuals living with a disability.
The deadline to apply for applications is Jan, 15, 2016.
For more information and application forms, please contact the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society at 867-979-2228 or contact@nuability.ca.
