Kangirsuk man pleads guilty to manslaughter in death of Puvirnituq woman
George Nassak to serve seven years for manslaughter death of Siasi Tukalak
A Kangirsuk man will serve seven years in prison following his manslaughter conviction in the 2010 death of a Puvirnituq woman.
Siasi Tukalak, a 35, of Puvirnituq, was discovered dead in a Kangirsuk residence late on Sept. 15, 2010.
A police investigation showed the man and woman got into an alcohol-fuelled domestic dispute that evening.
The following day, police arrested George Nassak, 43, and charged him with second-degree murder.
Nassak later pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
On Nov. 16, he received a sentence of seven years in prison, minus 14 months for time already served.
