The Kativik Regional Government’s assistant director general, Isabelle Parizeau, was appointed as the organization’s temporary director general Jan. 24.
The KRG’s executive committee made the temporary appointment following the departure of director general Jobie Tukkiapik earlier this week.
Tukkiapik, who served as the KRG’s director general for the last six years, was elected as the new president of Makivik Corp. Jan. 19.
Parizeau will hold the position temporarily until an interim or permanent director general is appointed, likely at the next KRG council sitting Feb. 27, said a Jan. 24 news release.
KRG’s executive council plans to post the position after it meets later this week.
Parizeau’s appointment takes effect immediately and is in addition to her usual role as assistant director general, the release noted.
