Montreal police are asking for the public’s help in piecing together the circumstances that led to a young Inuk woman’s death last month.
Police discovered the body of 29-year-old Nellie Angutiguluk May 18 in an apartment in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood.
While Angutiguluk’s death was originally treated as suspicious, police now say it’s considered a homicide, said Montreal police spokesman Abdullah Emran July 2.
The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal has sent its major crimes unit to the address where Angutiguluk was found last month, in the hope of gathering more information about the woman’s last few days.
Police will be stationed at 7225 Nancy St., Apt. 209 July 2 until about 3:00 p.m. to speak to anyone who may have known Angutiguluk or has information to provide.
Police believe the woman is from the Nunavik region, but say it’s unclear if the residence she was found at was where she was living at the time.
Anyone with information can also call Info Crime anonymously at 514-393-1133.
Angutiguluk’s death is Montreal’s 13th homicide of 2015.
