The Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association and the Alianait Arts Festival are on the lookout for Nunavut art to illustrate this year’s festival logo.
The organizations are hosting a territorial art competition under the theme “Arctic connections” to find a logo that will appear on this year’s arts festival t-shirts and materials.
The contest, open to Nunavummiut of all ages, is looking for a photograph or a digital copy of original work, including painting, jewellery, drawing or carving.
Last year’s winner, Iqaluit artist Naya Maurice, impressed judges with a painting of a raven she did on an old ceiling tile from Inuksuk high school. T-shirts bearing the raven image became a popular item during the 2011 arts festival.
Artists should submit their entries by April 16. The top three winning contestants will receive cash prizes and festival passes.
