A drawing by Danny Aaluk of “Drumdancer with the Spirit of a Polar Bear” has won the Nunavut Arts and Crafts Association holiday card contest.

Aaluk’s design will be shown on NACA’s 2012 holiday cards.

Sam Arreak from Pond Inlet received an honorable mention for his drawing of a baby seal with its mother in an aglu.

Another honourable mention goes out to Zuzanna Mignon and her students in the Art Program at Ummimak School in Grise Fiord.

Their submissions, inspired by prints from great Inuit artists, will be also printed on a set of cards, with the profits going to art supplies for the school’s art program.

This project is also intended to commemorate Dana Varney Burch, husband of long-time Inuit art supporter and NACA honorary board member Judith Varney Burch.

Those cards are not available yet, but will be soon on NACA’s website.
