“No foul play” in death of egg-gathering Nunavut teen: RCMP

The Nunavut RCMP says “no foul play” took place in the July 24 death of a teenage girl from Igloolik.

The girl, 17, was harvesting eggs on a cliff outside Igloolik when she fell off, police said in a July 25 statement.

Members of the Igloolik RCMP detachment received a report that a girl had died while camping, police said.

And with a search and rescue team, police headed to the camping site outside Igloolik.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the youth was harvesting eggs when she fell off a cliff,” police said.

The RCMP said the incident remains under investigation and that police are working with the Office of the Chief Coroner in this investigation.
