Norterra subsidiary buys Ottawa-based IShop4U business

Inuit-owned Braden-Burry snaps up retail procurement operation

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The Inuit-owned Braden-Burry Expediting firm, a subsidiary of Norterra Inc., has bought the popular IShop4U firm from owners Bruce and Gerri Mulley of Ottawa.

Braden-Burry, also known as “BBE,” is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Norterra Inc., which is owned 50-50 by Nunavut’s Nunasi Corp. and the Inuvialuit Development Corp.

The IShop4U firm offers a shopping and expediting service to Nunavut residents from Ottawa, covering a wide range of grocery and retail goods for shipment to northern customers via air freight or sealift.

“This service is very complimentary to BBE’s existing suite of services and will enable customers to take advantage of our ‘store-to-door’ one stop solution,” Heather Stewart, the president of BBE, said in a news release.

BBE did not disclose the purchase price of its new acquisition.
