By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Up to ten Inuit students will receive financial help in 2012 from Nunasi Corp., which plans to award $2,500 scholarships in partnership with some of its subsidiaries, Nuna Logistics, NCC Investment Group Ltd. and Larga Kitikmeot.

The scholarships, intended to encourage Inuit “to continue with their education and pursue academic excellence,” go to eligible applicants, who must be are beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and enrolled in a recognized, accredited educational institution for the 2012/2013 academic year.

Mature adult education students may also apply, Nunasi said in an April 4 news release.

Applicants must furnish several documents — then their applications will be rated by demonstrated leadership, academic performance, volunteerism and community involvement, career goals that contribute to the enhancement of Nunavut, and financial need, Nunasi said.

Deadline for submissions is Aug. 6.
