Nunavik Inuit go to the polls Thursday to choose Makivik’s next president
Election ends campaign and five-way race for Makivik Corp. president

Nunavik Inuit go to the polls on Thursday, Jan. 18, to choose Makivik Corp.’s next president.
Five candidates are running for the president’s position, including two-time incumbent Jobie Tukkiapik and Makivik’s founding president, Senator Charlie Watt.
Three newcomer candidates have also joined the race: Lucy Grey, Alasie Arngak and Jackie Williams.
Makivik’s president serves a three-year term and is the only one of Makivik’s five executive positions up for election in 2018.
Polling stations across Nunavik will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in either the local Northern Village or Landholding office.
Nunavik Inuit in Montreal can also vote at Makivik’s southern office located at 1111 Dr. Fredrik-Philips Blvd, 3rd floor.
