Nunavik Inuit head to the polls
Polling stations open until 6:00 p.m.

Inuit in Nunavik head to the polls today to vote for their birthright organization’s president.
Makivik Corp. is holding an election Jan. 15 for its top job; a three-way race between incumbent president Jobie Tukkiapik, and two former Makivik staffers, Robbie Watt and Jobie Epoo.
Pollls open at municipal officers in Nunavik communities at 10:00 a.m. and will remain open until 6:00 p.m. Jan. 15.
Nunavik beneficiaries can also vote at Makivik’s Montreal office during the same hours.
Voting is open to any beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement aged 18 years and over.
There are roughly 7,500 eligible voters on Makivik’s list.
