Kuujjuaq’s Ungava Tulattavik health centre has hired a new regional quality and complaints commissioner for its Ungava coast clients.
Kitty Gordon, a former communications officer at Makivik Corp., filled the position this summer, which fields and investigates complaints about the delivery of health services. The job is focused on the Ungava coast, but Gordon also spends part of her time serving the entire region.
“Her enthusiasm and involvement with the region will be as asset to both organizations,” said Minnie Grey, executive director of the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services, in a Sept. 9 release.
Gordon joins her Hudson Bay coast counterpart, Josi Nappatuk, who fields complaints from the Inuulitsivik health centre in Puvirnituq.
Gordon, who speaks Inuktitut, English and French, worked in communications out of Makivik’s Montreal office from 2008 to 2014 before returning to Kuujjuaq this summer.
Tulattavik patients can make complaints verbally or in writing by contacting Gordon at (819) 964-2905 ext. 509 or at kitty.gordon@ssss.gouv.qc.ca.
