Nunavut Broadband wants to hear from you on Internet access

“I encourage organizations and households to participate”

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

The Nunavut Broadband Development Corp. wants to hear from you about how you use the Internet and how and why it’s important to you, the corporation said March 8 in a news release.

To that end, they’ve built two online surveys on their website: one for householders and one for businesses.

The purpose of the survey is to measure the social and economic impact of high speed Internet in Nunavut, the corporation said.

And this, the corporation said, will help them build a case that shows how and why high speed Internet is important to the territory’s economy.

That, in turn, will lend support to efforts aimed at encouraging more investment in broadband by governments and others.

“We know that high speed Internet is as important to a community’s economic and social well-being as housing, water and sewer, roads and airports — all the more so in remote communities. Yet this is the first time anyone has attempted to measure the economic and social importance of high speed Internet for Nunavut.” said Darrell Ohokannoak, president of the broadband corporation.

Nunavut residents may find links to each of two surveys here.

Survey participants are not identified and their information is confidential.
