Nunavut coroner investigates death of child
Four-year-old died on Sunday, Feb. 11 in Iqaluit

Nunavut’s deputy coroner has ordered an autopsy into the Feb. 11 death of a four-year-old child at Iqaluit’s Qikiqtani General Hospital. (FILE PHOTO)
The Office of the Chief Coroner of Nunavut is investigating the death of a young child in Iqaluit.
The four-year-old died on Sunday, Feb. 11 at the Qikiqtani General Hospital, the coroner’s office said in a Feb. 12 release. The coroner’s office has not identified the child, nor has released any other details about the circumstances around the child’s passing.
The death is still under preliminary investigation and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death, said deputy coroner Khen Sagadraca Feb. 13.
In Nunavut, it is mandatory for the coroner’s office to investigate the deaths of all children five years of age and under.
