Nunavut group seeks support for peaceful food price protest

Hello Nunavummiut.
We would like to get your support on Saturday, June 9, 2012 between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to protest the high cost of food in Nunavut.
We would like to bring a simple message out. I don’t think I need to explain the high cost of food in Nunavut. We all know that.
On that day, could you Nunavummiut, go outside the Northmart, the Northern or the Co-op and carry a cardboard sign with a picture of food and the cost of it?
The food item could be any thing. It could be four litres of bagged, milk, cheese, fruit juice or fresh fruit, or vegetables.
If every community is able to do that, we will have one voice together from all of Nunavut. If we say one simple thing, and say it all together, it will have a deeper meaning.
What you will need to do is find out the price of the food, get an empty carton or a picture of the food, get a piece of cardboard and write it down on the cardboard. Then write where you are from.
We need to think about the kids, the elders and the low income families while we are doing this.
Again, this is about the high cost of food in the North. If anyone wants to take a lead in their community, please do so.
Please come out and be part of this peaceful protest. This is aimed at the big stores, and where all the money is going to.
There is a group on Facebook called “Feeding My Family.” Please join the group: http://ow.ly/bgTE9
