Nunavut police and coroner’s office are investigating the death of a Clyde River man who appears to have frozen to death last weekend.

Members of the RCMP were called to respond to reports of an unconscious man, discovered Oct. 31 at 7:45 a.m. along the road to the local airport, police said in a Nov. 3 release.

Police took the 22-year-old man to the local health centre, where he was treated for cold weather exposure. The man died later that morning of his injuries.

RCMP say no foul play is suspected in the man’s death, although police believe alcohol was a factor.

The coroner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the victim’s cause of death, police said Nov. 3.
