Nunavut ex-SAO charged with theft makes first court appearance
Case adjourned until fall 2016

A former administrator for the hamlet of Baker Lake who was charged with fraud and theft in May isn’t expected to enter a plea to those charges until the fall.
Dennis Zettler, the long-time senior administrative officer at the Kivalliq hamlet, faces three charges in relation to the alleged theft of funds from municipal coffers.
RCMP offers arrested Zettler May 27 after police uncovered a large sum of cash in his Baker Lake home.
His arrest came a day after Zettler himself called local police May 26 to report a theft from his home, which lead police to investigate.
Zettler, 65, faces one count of breach of trust by a public officer, theft over $5,000 and possession of property over $5,000.
Zettler made his first court appearance July 18 in Baker Lake.
The case was adjourned to the next Baker Lake circuit in October 2016, at which point Zettler is expected to enter a plea.
Zettler is no longer working for the hamlet, where he was employed for 22 years.
