A Cape Dorset man faces two charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking following the seizure of 1.6 kilograms of marijuana and 1,000 vials of marijuana oil, the Nunavut RCMP said Aug. 11.

Investigators from the RCMP’s V Division Federal Operations Section in Iqaluit arrested Pitsiulak Manumikalak, 54, of Cape Dorset, on Aug. 10 as a result of the seizures, the RCMP release said.

Manumikalak is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and marijuana oil.

Now released from custody, Manumikalak will appear Nov. 10 at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit.

“Getting these drugs off the streets creates a safer and healthier community. We encourage everyone to contact your local RCMP Detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477 (TIPS) if you witness or have any information about a crime,” the release said.
