Nunavut RCMP lay charges in Pond Inlet homicide

Deceased man, 43, not identified

RCMP members investigating the death of a 43-year-old male in Pond Inlet have now charged another Pond Inlet man with second degree murder in connection with that investigation.

Members of the Pond Inlet RCMP detachment discovered a deceased man within the community Sept. 28, according to a Sept. 29 news release from Nunavut RCMP’s V division.

The RCMP’s Forensic Identification Services and the Major Crime Unit based in Iqaluit are assisting the local detachment and the Office of the Chief Coroner with the investigation, the release said.

According to the latest RCMP news release, dated Oct. 1, the accused man has been remanded in custody and is expected to appear at the Nunavut Court of Justice Oct. 7.
