Nunavut RCMP nab six 60-ouncers of vodka at CamBay airport
Kenneth Vandewiel, 42, must pay $950 ticket for unlawful possession of alcohol
Police in Cambridge Bay seized $1,900 worth of vodka and liqueurs this week following a suitcase search at the airport.
The Cambridge Bay RCMP detachment received a tip Feb. 16 about man that was to arrive in Cambridge Bay on an afternoon flight, carrying alcohol and possibly marijuana in his luggage.
Officers went to the airport when the flight arrived where they detained the man, who consented to having his suitcase searched.
“Located in his suit case was six 60-oz bottles of Alberta Pure Vodka and two small liqueur bottles,” said a Feb. 22 news release from the RCMP.
Kenneth Vandewiel, 42, has been served a $950 ticket for unlawful possession of alcohol, Sec. 90 of the Liquor Control Act, it said.
