Police in Taloyoak have arrested and charged two people with drug possession and trafficking, Nunavut RCMP said Feb. 26.

On Feb. 23, the RCMP said that its members in Taloyoak executed a search warrant in a local residence as part of investigation into trafficking in the Kitikmeot community.

Police seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana and hashish that had been pre-packaged for sale, as well as a quantity of cash, the RCMP said in a Feb. 26 statement.

Police also arrested two residents of Taloyoak, who were charged with possession and trafficking. Neither can be named until they appear in court next July, the statement said.

The investigation was successful thanks to the help of the public, the RCMP said, encouraging the public to report any drug activity in communities.
