Nunavut youth faces charges after July 28 Qikiqtarjuaq incident
Teen, 17, charged after man, 24, found unconscious, bleeding
A 17-year-old Qikiqtarjuaq boy, charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose in connection with a July 28 incident, remains in custody, the RCMP said July 29.
Members of the RCMP detachment in Qikiqtarjuaq responded to a call about an unconscious man outside a residence in the early morning hours of July 28, said the release.
At about 4 a.m. they found the injured man, 24, bleeding from his head outside the residence in this community of 500.
He was taken to the local health centre before being medevaced to Ottawa for further treatment.
The teenager is scheduled to appear Aug. 5 before a judge at Nunavut’s Court of Justice in Iqaluit.
The RCMP said its investigation into the assault is still ongoing.
