I have been a tenant with the Kativik Municipal Housing Bureau for 10 years and KMHB has no record of me.
I have been applying for a new house and renewing my application every month.
Since they were building new houses, I applied for a new house. The local housing committee finally had a meeting. They said that I don’t want to move to a new house anymore, which is not true, but I kept renewing my application so I could move.
Now the new houses are occupied and the house I’m living in is in no condition to live in. Since they the local housing committee cancelled my application I wanted to move to a empty house to wait for the renovations, but they said I can’t move.
I have five kids and they have skin problems due to the mould in the house. The house is full of bugs, all kinds of bugs. The bathroom is the worst, and it always smells like sewage.
I moved in when the house was like this in 2010. The wind comes in through the front porch door and the windows don’t close well and the window in the porch is covered with wood, and the snow comes in through that covered window when there’s a blizzard.
The water pump is always breaking, and the faucet is dripping so we run out of water every day and the pipe under the kitchen sink is leaking so that creating mould too. The maintenance men couldn’t fix it.
All the doorways have no doors, except for the bathroom door, which has holes.
I have a wife and five children. Our home is hazardous to live in. Please help us.
Thank you for your time.
