The Ottawa Police Service had asked for help early March 10 from the public in finding a missing Inuk woman, Padluq Ashoona, 51, from Ottawa, last seen on the morning of March 3 in the area of Meadowlands Drive.

But later in the day, the OPS, in a second online release, said “the Ottawa Police Service would like to advise that Padluq Ashoona has been located safe and sound.”

The OPS had described Ashoona as an Aboriginal woman, 5’4” (163 cm) with a small build, weighing 119 pounds (54 kilograms), with short black hair.

No clothing description for Ashoona was available, the OPS release said.

But her family had been concerned for her well-being, police said.
