At their annual general meeting in Ottawa, March 5 to 7, the board members of Pauktuutit Inuit Women of Canada acclaimed Rebecca Kudloo as the organization’s president.

Kudloo will serve a three-year term.

“Pauktuutit has been very close to my heart for decades. I am honoured to have the confidence of the board to take on the leadership of this important organization. We will continue to address the priorities of Inuit women, such as violence and abuse prevention, health, socio-economic development and equality,” Kudloo said in a recent Pauktuutit news release.

Annie Buchan of Cambridge Bay was elected to a three-year term as vice-president.

New directors include Sheila Pokiak Lumsden of Iqaluit, who represents the South Qikiqtani region, Alyssa Flaherty Spence, representing youth, and Charlotte Wolfrey for Nunatsiaqvut.
