Photo: NEU members await vote results

Inside the Public Service Alliance of Canada office in Iqaluit, members of the Nunavut Employees Union are awaiting results of a vote that started this past July among NEU members across Nunavut to ratify a collective agreement with the Government of Nunavut reached this past June. The new agreement, if approved, would cover most GN employees except for teachers and Qulliq Energy Corp. employees. The results are expected to be released later this afternoon, Sept. 18. If members reject the current offer, NEU members will be in a legal strike position as soon as they reach an essential services agreement with their employer. After an essential services agreement, a strike notice could be issued on 48 hours notice. (PHOTO BY DAVID MURPHY)
