Parnasimautik, or Plan Nunavik, is the result of years of consultation across the region to develop a blueprint for the region’s future, identifying issues like Inuit culture, well-being and Indigenous rights as priorities. In Kangiqsualujjuaq, local organizations and residents have come together to move forward on those issues at the community level, hosting workshops and training for Kangsualujjuamiut. “We realized, if we have problems, we’re the ones who have to work to solve them,” said committee member Nancy Etok. “We can’t wait for others to do it for it.” (PHOTO BY SARAH ROGERS)
