The cruise ship MV Akademic Ioffe lies off Pangnirtung Sept. 3 near the end of a 13-day  tour through the Northwest Passage that began Aug. 24 in Cambridge Bay. The Russia-flagged Akademic Ioffe, which was originally built in Finland to serve as a scientific vessel, was commissioned by a Toronto-based tour company called Worldwide Quest, which offered the tour to a group of university alumni associations.
