Kristy Suluk woke up to this scene outside her Arviat home early Oct. 21, as three polar bears approach her neighbour’s dog, tied up outside the house. Bystanders managed to scare the bears away, but residents are on heightened alert this time of year, as polar bears pass through the Kivalliq community on their migration north.
