Dr. Stanley Vollant, Quebec's first Aboriginal surgeon, walks near Natashquan, Que. by the Gulf of St. Lawrence, in 2011. In 2010, Vollant began a six-year, 6,000-km journey to walk between Aboriginal communities in eastern Canada to rekindle a connection to the land and to inspire his Aboriginal peers to nurture a healthy body, mind and spirit. About 20 walkers will join Vollant on his latest trek at the end of February from Schefferville to Kuujjuaq, including six Nunavimmiut. This will be the Innu surgeon's only foray into Nunavik.
