Bobby Snowball of Nunavik’s Elders Committee leads a moment of silence in memory of the late Salluit elder Elashuk Pauyungie at a meeting of the Kativik Regional Government Council Feb. 23. Pauyungie, who died suddenly last Dec. 7, was a well-known broadcaster and active member of the region’s elders committee. “We’ve lost a very important person,” Snowball told the KRG council Feb. 23. “In the future, we’re not rushing to replace Elashuk.
