Photo: A new name, a new plan

Nunavik’s youth group has a new name: Qarjuit Youth Council. The newly-formed youth group opened a regional contest for a new name, selecting the winner last week during consultations in Kuujjuaraapik. Qarjuit translates into English as arrows (fast or sharp), which the group says symbolizes how they want to “get straight to the issues.” The council, led by its president Alicia Aragutak, is currently hosting consultations on both coasts to gather input from its membership towards a plan of action.
