Photo: A rest in Kangirsuk

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

Sled dogs hunker down for a night’s rest April 2 as wind and blowing snow pick up in Kangirsuk, Nunavik. Ivakkak teams arrived in Kangirsuk April 1 and race officials decided they should spend the weekend there — resting and feasting with local residents — before they hit the trail again early April 4. Ivakkak mushers and their teams will continue on down Nunavik’s Ungava coast this week, en route to the race’s finish line in Kuujjuaq. (PHOTO BY PIERRE DUNNIGAN/IVAKKAK)
