Photo: A robin for CamBay

This red-breasted robin gets to know Cambridge Bay May 30 — a newcomer to this western Nunavut community located far above the tree line. Robins are no strangers to other Nunavut communities, including Iqaluit, Baker Lake, Kugluktuk, Arviat and Rankin Inlet. But they’re a sign of warmth as robins generally migrate north along with average temperatures of 2.2 C which come early enough to allow them to breed. Most bird population maps and reference books show there are no robins at all in Nunavut. (PHOTO BY ALAN SIM)
