Northern lights careen above the Arctic Winter Games torch in Nuuk, Greenland, March 9. After a week of competition, athletes from across the circumpolar world will participate in the closing ceremonies for the 2016 games at 6 p.m. EST, March 11. According to the most recent media release from the games, the first flights out of Nuuk to the Kangerlussuaq airport in northern Greenland will begin at 4 a.m. EST March 12. From there, athletes will take connecting flights back to their homes in Canada and the United States. Most Nunavut athletes will likely just take the small craft shuttles from Nuuk to Iqaluit.
