Photo: Advance buzz for Uyarasuk film prompts second screening

A second screening of the documentary Sol has been scheduled in Iqaluit because of popular demand. The feature film, from Arnait Video Productions, depicts the death of Igloolik artist Solomon Uyarasuk and explores issues of suicide in Nunavut as a family and community try to make sense of a tragedy. Filmmaker Susan Avingaq, above, interviews Uyarasuk’s childhood friend and fellow Artcirq performer Terry Uyarak in a screenshot from the movie. The Nunavut premiere of the film is scheduled for Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Astro Theatre.
