Nunavut MP Leona Aglukkaq, the minister responsible for CanNor, at the Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre in Iqaluit Oct. 11, issuing an array of funding announcements related to tourism, film, arts, and the Inuit Broadcasting Corp. CanNor will spend $1.17 million over four years to help develop Nunavut tourism, $567,400 over two years on arts and crafts, and $617,000 over two years on film development. Aglukkaq also announced that Heritage Canada will give IBC about $1.9 million to help pay for their production season this year, during which IBC will produce five 13-episode shows. Aglukkaq fended off questions about an audit of CanNor leaked to Radio-Canada last week that shows serious financial management problems at the agency. She said she will read the audit after a final version is produced. (PHOTO BY JIM BELL)
