Photo: Airline frenemies to defend codeshare at MLAs’ meeting

Two aircraft belonging to the erstwhile competitors, Canadian North and First Air, sit on the tarmac at Iqaluit’s airport. In many parts of Nunavut, the two airlines, along with Calm Air, have effectively stopped competing with each other through codesharing agreements, following failed merger talks. Representatives of the three airlines serving Nunavut will appear at a full caucus meeting of the Nunavut legislature in Iqaluit Jan. 26 to answer questions and defend their highly unpopular codeshare deals. The Legislative Assembly of Nunavut channel will broadcast the meeting on cable and satellite television throughout Nunavut starting at 9 a.m. Radio listeners in Iqaluit can tune in to 94.7 FM for Inuktitut and 102.1 FM for English.
