Alianiat Entertainment Group’s emerging artists program got a boost from RBC Royal Bank, July 17, when the bank’s regional vice-president for Canada’s three territories, Jeff T. Fowler, left, presented a cheque of $15,000 in support of the program. Heather Daley, executive director of Alianait, and Franco Buscemi, chair of the group’s board of directors, received the cheque in a small ceremony at RBC’s branch in Iqaluit. “We work with a lot of emerging Nunavut artists,” Daley said of Alianait’s program, which supports young Nunavummiut seeking to start careers in the music industry. “This helps us get them gigs, and gets them to participate in music industry workshops.” (PHOTO BY PETER VARGA)
