Photo: Arctic Bay cadets do mass clean-up near community

By SPECIAL TO NUNATSIAQ NEWS

A group of cadets, along with their instructors and a couple of volunteers, take a break Aug. 31 from a day of cleaning up a stretch of beach located across from the community of Arctic Bay. The spot includes an Arctic char stream and bird habitat, to which debris from Arctic Bay has been drifting for years. The group picked up and hauled away trailer-fulls of garbage, old barrels and metal. They also collected a huge pile of wood that will be used for a bonfire later this autumn.
