Photo: Arviat band gets Aqpik Jam audience singing

Abraham Eetok and Calvin Pameolik of Arviat sing the Beatles’ “Hey Jude” Aug. 13 at the Aqpik Jam music festival in Kuujjuaq. The two sang covers and their own songs in both English and Inuktitut. Here, Pameolik invites the crowd to sing along to “Hey Jude.” On the line-up for the festival Aug. 14: throatsingers Evie Mark and Akinisie, Tim and the Band, Pangnirtung accordionist (and bowhead whale captain) Simeonie Keenainak, accordionists Zebedee and Jeannie and, Lucassie and Dora, Nine O Five, Tuktukooq from Greenland and Okalk. Can’t be in Kuujjuaq for the fun? You can listen to the live broadcast from the Kaitittavik town hall on the Taqramiut Nipingat Inc. radio network on 94.1, all week, starting at 7 p.m..
