Photo: Arviat youth deliver moving theatre performance

Meet the cast and crew of Night, a theatre performance put on by students at John Arnalukjuak school in Arviat June 14. Night, written by playwright Christopher Morris, tells the story of Puiyaq, a teenager from Pond Inlet, and Daniella, a scientist from Toronto, who arrives in the Baffin community with a silver box and news of Puiyaq’s grandfather who had left Nunavut decades before. Directed by Arviat teacher Gord Billard, the performance was “a challenging, raw and emotional look at difficult issues,” said an audience member.
