Here’s a scene from “Kautjajuk,” the legend of the ill-treated orphan, performed by the Nunavik Theatre Company. The made-in-Nunavik production, adapted and written in Inuktitut by Adamie Kalingo, features costumes made by Nunavik Creations, masks by renowned artists Mattiusi Iyaituk, props by Inukjuak Unaaq men’s association and music by Kuujjuaq singer and songrwriter Etua Snowball. You can see an excerpt from “Kautjajuk” Dec. 5, along with hip hop dancer and singer Elisapie, at a fundraising event for Nunavik’s Avataq Cultural Institute.
