Photo: Ayalik fund for youth gets boost from INAC

Alain Grenier of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada, left, presents Laurie and David Pelly a cheque for more than $1,600 at the Unikkaarvik Visitor’s Centre in Iqaluit April 12. The INAC office raised the money for the Ayalik Fund — a charitable organization set up in memory of the Pellys’ son, Eric Ayalik who was born in Cambridge Bay and who died suddenly in 2015 of heart failure at 19 years old. The Ayalik Fund sends Nunavut youth to places around Canada and the world to enrich their lives with group, outdoor experiences outside their home territory, David Pelly said.
