Rachel Michael of the Inuksuk Drum Dancers performs May 8 at a concert held at St. Jude’s Anglican Cathedral in Iqaluit with members of the Ottawa Children’s Choir, who visited Iqaluit last week to collaborate with their northern friends and do music workshops in a project called Nipiit Kattitut–Voices United. One of the pieces they performed that night was “Inngiqtuq,” a new choral composition written for them by the Kingston, Ont. composer Mark Sirrett. The Inuksuk Drum Dancers will visit Ottawa in June, when their activities will include a mass choir concert June 27 at Woodroffe United Church.
