Bill Lyall of Cambridge Bay, a former territorial MLA under the Northwest Territories, now chair of the Ikalututiak co-op association and long-time supporter of the Arctic co-operative movement, recently strengthened that resolve by releasing a book which explores why co-ops are important to northerners. “Helping Ourselves by Helping Each Other: The Life story of William Lyall” was released Nov. 4 and recount’s Lyall’s experiences working for co-ops his entire life. The book, now available in co-op stores across the North, was published through a Laval university-based organization called CURA Leadership and Governance in Nunavut and Nunavik: Life Stories, Analytical Perspectives and Trainings.
