This was the scene outside of the arena in Rankin Inlet the evening of March 15, when officials coordinating the Avataq First Air Cup — a senior men’s hockey tournament in the Kivalliq — had to cancel its bronze and gold medal games due to blizzard conditions. The same blizzard continued through the region March 16, shutting many businesses and government offices.
