Photo: Books to open minds

Here’s a selection of the books on transgender issues purchased for the May Hakongak library in Cambridge Bay by Kiilinik high school student student Danielle Omilgoitok. Omilgoitok held a bakesale, among other activities, to raise the money for the books as part of a project for the aulaajaqtuut program, part of the made-in-Nunavut curriculum, which focuses on building emotional well-being. “Way to go Danielle for filling a gap that was missing, the books will soon be available for loan,” said the Kitikmeot Historical Society on its Facebook page.
