In the lead-up to this week’s 2018 Arctic Frontiers Conference in Tromsø, Norway, Nunavut’s Megan Pizzo-Lyall participated in an “Emerging Leaders” program. This program allows young professionals and doctoral students to meet with representatives from academia, business and the public sector in northern Norway. Pizzo-Lyall is the manager of operations for Atuqtuarvik Corp., a financing and investment company for Inuit-owned businesses in Rankin Inlet. Pizzo-Lyall, who attended Nunavut Sivuniksavut, graduated as co-valedictorian from Nunavut Arctic College in Iqaluit in the Environmental Technology Program. Pizzo-Lyall said she wanted to participate in the Emerging Leaders program to learn about her fellow Arctic residents and the technologies they use to carry out their businesses.
