Photo: Bringing Inuit knowledge to international ArcticNet conference

Nanivara researcher Jennifer Ullulaq, in headphones, interviews an elder in Gjoa Haven. Researchers from the Nanivara heritage research project, which connects youth and elders for the purpose of collecting and recording traditional knowledge, were in Vancouver last week to present the details of their project at the annual ArcticNet conference. Ullulaq and her colleagues are hoping also to impress upon the world’s foremost Arctic scientists and researchers that Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit deserves more than quaint, token inclusion in a project but ought to be a main driving element instead. Read more about the project, and their presentation to ArcticNet, later on nunatsiaqonline.ca. (PHOTO COURTESY NANIVARA)
